IT’S TIME TO REGISTER

Bennett V is coming soon – July 30, 2016, Bennett College, Greensboro

We are thrilled to announce that Mandy Carter, Nobel Prize nominated social justice activist, will be our keynote speaker.  Mandy has spent her life as a movement organizer including helping co-found Southerners on New Ground (SONG) and the National Black Justice Coalition.

This is shaping up to be our best Bennett conference yet.  We will be rolling out our WHY VOTE initiative and beginning our 2016 letter writing campaign.  The morning will be filled with a panel discussing critical issues important to women and then participants will have an opportunity to interact in small groups directly with the panelists.

The afternoon will be filled with how-to work sessions with practical application to our organizational efforts.
This is your chance to get connected with other leaders and activists and up-to-date on what’s important as we organize women and get out the vote in this crucial 2016 election.

The complete agenda will be available July 14.

BENNETT V – ISSUES AND ACTIONS

THIS WILL BE OUR YEAR!

JULY 30, 2016 BENNETT COLLEGE, GREENSBORO, NC
REGISTER NOW

Yes, indeed, this will be the fifth Bennett Conference sponsored by NC Women Matter and it promises to be the best.  This year could not be more important. Women will be electing a president, governor, council of state, US senator, and an entire general assembly.  Women will also be electing county commissioners and some districts will be electing boards of education.  Yes, Women will be electing all of these key officials who determine much of what is important to women and families across the state.

Women represent 54% of the registered voters in this state and as we should know, if women vote in the interest of themselves and their families, great things will happen.

Bennett V is an important step in the direction of these great things happening.  Bennett V is our opportunity to meet, get inspired, network with other women leaders and activists, get briefed on critical issues and learn new skills.  More detailed information will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

This year, in particular, we will be rolling out our women-to-woman letter writing campaign and we will get introduced to our “Why Vote Guide for Women” and our brand new Why Vote web site.

Plan to bring materials from your organization to share.

Check-in will begin at 8:30 with a continental breakfast.  The program will begin promptly at 9:00 and will conclude no later than 4:30.  Lunch will be served.  There is a $10 registration fee per participant.  Registration is open now.

BENNETT IV — COLLABORATION: THE KEY TO IMPACT

JULY 25, 2015 BENNETT COLLEGE, GREENSBORO, NC REGISTER NOW

This is our time to come together, network, learn new strategies, get briefed on critical issues, and create a plan to work together with other predominantly women’s organizations to educate women on issues important to them and their families and share our resources to get out the female vote.  There are important elections coming up this Fall at the local and county level. We also need to begin to plan for the all-important 2016 elections when we will elect a President, Governor, and US Senator.

The key to women having an impact on the outcome of these races and the policies set by our elected leaders is to work together, share resources, and collaborate at the local/county/regional level.  The focus of Bennett IV will be on collaboration – how we can maximize our strengths to assure that women’s voices are heard.

In addition to training on effective collaboration, we will have issue briefs on important topics like pay equity and paid leave, the status of ERA on North Carolina, undocumented immigrant issues, voting rights and challenges, the student debt crisis, and reproductive justice/domestic violence/sexual abuse.

A certain highlight of the day will be a keynote presentation by dream hampton, nationally known, award winning writer, film maker, and social justice organizer.  She will be speaking to the topic: 21st Century Activism – New Media and New Narratives.

Check-in will begin at 8:30 with a continental breakfast.  The program will begin at 9:00 sharp and will conclude no later than 4:30.  Lunch will be served.  There will be a $10 registration fee per participant.  Registration is open now.  To register click here:
