Election 2012 is upon us and there is much work to do. NC Women Matter is a non-partisan collective of organizations and individuals that have mobilized to increase awareness of issues affecting women, but most importantly our goal is to increase female voter turnout on November 6, 2012. Our goal is to realize as much of our 54% of voter impact as possible. We have organized a Phone Bank for the purpose of reaching out to the 3000 women across the state of North Carolina to which we have already sent hand written letters.

The North Carolina legislature has created barriers to expanding access to and availability of emergency contraception. This limits a woman’s reproductive freedom. New legislative steps must be taken to eliminate these barriers.
A lack of adequate access to health care jeopardizes a woman’s ability to contribute to her community, care for themselves and their families, and be productive members of the work force. Threats to the Affordable Care Act, Title X, and Medicaid would have disproportionate effects on women.
In the last year, we’ve seen deep cuts both at the state and federal levels to programs families relied upon and that our children need to reach their full potential. While lawmakers may call these cuts “discretionary”, women know that these programs are vital. Unfortunately, too often women’s voices aren’t at the table when these decisions are made.
The only way we are going to impact the issues that affect women is to mobilize at the polls. We need your help with our Phone Bank campaign. We have a number of support mechanisms in place to make this process as seamless as possible.
